Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Baron Computing collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you visit our website, contact us, book a service, use remote support, or complete a checkout.
Who we are
Baron Computing is responsible for deciding how personal data is used when you contact us, use our website, or request our services. This means Baron Computing is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, except where another organisation acts as an independent controller for its own services, such as payment processing.
You can contact us by email at [email protected] or by phone on 01604 328881.

Please avoid sending this type of information unless it is genuinely needed for the support you have requested. During remote support, information of this kind may be visible on your screen or device; we only use what is necessary to provide the requested support.
Our services are not aimed at children. If a child needs support, a parent, guardian, or responsible adult should contact us.

When information is required
Some information is needed so that we can respond to your enquiry, provide a quote, arrange support, complete checkout, issue invoices, or meet legal and accounting obligations. If you do not provide the information needed for a particular service, we may be unable to provide that service. Optional information is used only where it helps us understand or deliver the support you have requested.
Lawful basis for processing
We only use personal data where we have a lawful basis to do so under UK data protection law. Depending on the situation, we may rely on:
- Contract: where processing is needed to provide a service you have requested or to take steps before providing that service.
- Legitimate interests: where we need to respond to enquiries, manage customer relationships, maintain service records, prevent misuse, and improve our website and services.
- Consent: where you choose to accept non-essential cookies or analytics technologies, agree to a testimonial being published, or ask us to use remote access.
- Legal obligation: where we need to keep certain records for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal reasons.
Payments and checkout
Payments are processed securely through Stripe. When you complete checkout, Stripe may process payment details, billing information, card information, fraud-prevention data, and other information required to complete the transaction.
Baron Computing does not store your full card details on this website. We may receive and store order-related information such as the services purchased, customer contact details, payment status, and Stripe checkout reference where needed to manage your service request.
If you buy a monthly support plan, Stripe may also process subscription and recurring payment information so that ongoing payments can be managed.
Customer records, projects, and invoices
We use customer, job, project, and invoice records to manage repairs, support work, quotes, invoices, expenses, status updates, files, and follow-up activity. These records may include contact details, addresses, service history, project notes, invoice references, payment status, linked Stripe customer IDs, and linked InvoiceShelf customer or invoice IDs.
We use Supabase to host and manage website and admin data. We use InvoiceShelf to help manage customer invoicing and related billing records.
Contact forms and email
When you submit a contact form, we collect the information you provide so that we can respond to your enquiry. We may also use a simple spam-prevention field and basic request information to help prevent misuse of the form.
Contact form submissions may generate an email to Baron Computing and a confirmation email to you. These emails may include the details you submitted, such as your name, email address, phone number, enquiry type, and message.
We use email and SMTP services to send contact confirmations, service updates, invoice emails, and internal notifications. Service emails are not marketing emails.
Remote support
If you request remote support, we may collect details about your device and issue so that we can diagnose the problem and arrange a suitable support session.
Remote support may involve screen sharing or remote access software. We will only begin remote access with your permission and will use the information visible during the session only for providing the requested support.
You remain in control of whether a remote support session takes place. Please close private files, messages, browser tabs, or applications that are not relevant before the session begins.
Testimonials and public content
If you provide a testimonial or review for use on the website, we may publish the name, location, service type, rating, and review text you have agreed for us to use. You can contact us if you want a published testimonial removed or changed.
Analytics and website usage data
We use analytics tools to understand how visitors use our website and to help improve performance, usability, and content.
Analytics tools may collect information such as pages viewed, time spent on the site, browser type, device type, approximate location, referral source, and general interaction data.
The analytics services we currently use include Tianji and Google Analytics.
Tianji is used as a privacy-focused analytics tool to help us understand general website usage.
Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics may use cookies and similar technologies to collect data about how visitors interact with this website.
Google may process information on servers located outside the UK and European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this occurs, we aim to rely on appropriate safeguards provided by the relevant service provider.
We only load non-essential analytics tools, including Google Analytics, after you have provided consent through our cookie banner.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our website may use cookies or similar technologies. Some cookies are necessary for the website to work properly, such as cookies used for basket functionality, security, or remembering essential preferences.
Non-essential cookies, including analytics cookies, are only used where you have given consent through the cookie banner. You can update your cookie preferences through the cookie controls provided on the website.
Who we share information with
Baron Computing does not sell or rent personal data. We only share information where necessary to operate the website, provide services, process payments, respond to enquiries, or meet legal obligations.
We may share limited information with:
- Payment providers such as Stripe
- Database, hosting, and storage providers such as Supabase
- Email and SMTP providers
- Invoice and accounting tools such as InvoiceShelf
- Analytics providers where consent has been given
- Map providers where map tiles or location tools are loaded
- Remote support tools where needed to provide support
- Professional advisers or authorities where legally required
We require service providers to handle personal data only for appropriate purposes and to apply suitable security measures. We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside the UK or the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we aim to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as contractual protections or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected. This may include keeping records to respond to enquiries, manage customer relationships, provide services, maintain business records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and comply with legal or accounting obligations.
Contact form enquiries and service records are kept for as long as reasonably necessary to manage the enquiry or service request. Payment and transaction records may be kept for longer where required for tax, accounting, or legal reasons.
Browser-based preferences, such as cookie consent, theme choice, basket contents, or saved service form details, remain on your device until they expire, are replaced, or you clear them from your browser. Published testimonials are kept until they are no longer relevant or you ask us to remove them, unless we have a lawful reason to keep a record.
How we protect your information
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. These steps may include secure hosting, restricted access, secure payment processing, and use of trusted service providers.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have rights over your personal data. These may include the right to request access to your data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your data, restriction of processing, objection to processing, and withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.
You may also have the right to data portability, the right to object to direct marketing, and rights relating to automated decision-making. Baron Computing does not use your personal data for solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
To exercise your rights, please contact us using the contact details listed above. We may need to verify your identity before responding to a rights request.
Complaints
If you have concerns about how your personal data is handled, you can contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, which is the UK regulator for data protection matters.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services, website tools, or legal requirements. Any updates will be published on this page.
